Five Trends From Biocontrol & Biostimulants LATAM 2026

More than 300 professionals gathered in Brazil for Biocontrol & Biostimulants LATAM 2026 to collaborate with biopesticide, biostimulant & biofertilizer sector leaders. The AgriThority® team attended and noted five trends that emerged from the conference:

1. Consistency is key.

It is no longer just about demonstrating efficacy, but about delivering consistent results across crops, environments, and growing conditions. Understanding where, when, and how a biological product works is becoming increasingly important.

2. Differentiation is needed, and it needs to be backed by science.

With more biological products entering the market, the question is increasingly: what really makes one solution different from another? Clear positioning, understanding the mode of action, and robust field validation will be critical to differentiate products and build long-term credibility.

3. Bioinputs are part of the solution, not necessarily the whole solution.

Several discussions highlighted promising results from combinations of microorganisms, as well as biologicals used alongside conventional inputs. This reinforces the importance of understanding compatibility and designing integrated programs rather than looking at biologicals in isolation.

4. Resilience is becoming as important as yield.

Under a changing climate, growers are dealing with greater production risk and more frequent stress conditions. One interesting concept discussed was the use of biological solutions early in the crop cycle to help prepare plants for stresses they may face later — including products that activate or support the plant’s own natural processes. The objective is not only maximizing yield, but achieving more consistent performance despite environmental challenges.

5. Innovation needs to solve meaningful problems.

The opportunity is to develop solutions that address complex, real-world challenges growers are facing and deliver clear, measurable value under field conditions.

Across all of these topics, education remains fundamental. There is still a knowledge gap between product development and what ultimately reaches the farmer. Setting the right expectations and providing clear guidance on product use will be essential to maintaining growers’ confidence in biological technologies.

Brazil remains a major biologicals market, but as the market matures, product availability increases and competition intensifies, innovation, differentiation and demonstrated value will become even more important. At the same time, other Latin American markets are evolving. Peru and Colombia are gaining momentum, creating opportunities to expand biological solutions into a broader range of crops, including avocado, coffee, and banana. In Mexico, the biological inputs market is still relatively small but growing, with export-oriented crops increasingly driving demand for biological solutions. In Argentina, the biologicals market has historically been largely represented by the use of Bradyrhizobium inoculants in soybean; however, the market is gradually diversifying, with increasing adoption of foliar biostimulants and biocontrol solutions.
